Description

"We're the Triton Senshi, and in the name of the Seven Seas, we'll punish you!"

As for which seven seas, I have no idea, because there are a bajillion bodies of water that go by that name. Either way, I imagine each of their sailor names are stuff like 'Sailor Caspian Sea' and the like.

But the real first thing you should know about this is...I put zero effort into the drawing and inking and coloring of this. Zero. None. I might have started with some semblance of caring, but I remember that I started this during a depressing day during a depressing stream, and I kept seeing people come in and then immediately leave while I was drawing Ariel, like lots of people, and I was like, "That bad, huh...?"

So then I just kept the sketch on my computer, and all throughout this week whenever I've had some semblance of artistic motivation, I've taken tiny nibbles out of this picture, be that sketching, inking, etc. However, despite how long it took me to get it done, I was working extremely fast. Usually when I do a picture like this, I put a lot of thought into things like who should have what height, who should have what body type, how should they be posed, 'if her arm is going over her head, how long should I make it,' and 'I need to make sure I know where every body part is, even if it's blocked.' You know, like you're supposed to.

But not with this drawing. Not. With. This. Drawing. I scribbled, I put no care into the execution, and I just let the girls have ugly faces and bodies while quietly hating myself for it, and yet refusing to change much. I also refused to do shading. I told myself, just get it over with, just push through this, it's artistic vomit anyway.

And then to top it all off I got carried away with the background as usual and put glitter textures all over it. pfsdjakjdfljfpf

Even the concept is of course, as old as time (or at least as old as the 90s), and even while looking for refs for this picture I found more of Ariel and her sisters as sailor soldiers, but I didn't caaare. I've been itching to draw colorful, girly art for the last few months or so, and I couldn't decide between Sailor Moon, Disney Princesses, Triton's Daughters...so I just lazily combined all three. I'm so originaaallllllll

So the sparkles. Yeah. Ha, I've been watching more Sera Myu, and of course I regularly check out what Disney dolls are on the shelves at various stores, and so I just decided...glitter. Let's pretend this is what these girls look like in a Sera Myu show, or maybe their original dolls got rereleased but with GLITTER which makes them A BRAND NEW LINE BUT NOT REALLY.

If you want me to post the non-glitter version in my scraps, I can.

I guess the only thing I want to add right now is that Triton's Daughters must totally be, like, the Aquaman of the Sailor Moon universe. Living on underwater planets and being able to switch back and forth between human and mermaid, able to breathe water and air on both.

Okay I also want to add that I was barely paying attention to the personalities established in canon for the sisters. As a kid I never got to see the Little Mermaid cartoon, I didn't own too many Little Mermaid books, and as for Ariel's Beginning...ew.

Maybe now that I got this out of my system, bit by bit throughout the week, I can do something not lame...
