Soda Superheroes - Sprite

Oh gosh, I hope this works. Everyone's gone PNG crazy this year and since I couldn't think of a background for this one I thought, "Me toooo."

Superhero Alias: Sprite
Party Affiliation: Coca-Cola
Possible Civilian Name: Spencer Spritzer
Powers: Bubble types, citric acid types, speed, jumping very high.

The Origin: Have you ever when you're very tired told yourself something completely nonsense and believed it for a moment with all your heart? Because you're just that tired? One morning when I was particularly low on sleep and quite delirious after a long night of homeworking and watching DCAU cartoons, I was throwing away the Sprite I'd been drinking when I thought to myself very seriously, "Sprite has a secret identity." For about a minute I believed it. Yes, yes, Sprite has a secret identity, of course...so in class I sketched it. I started thinking about the universe she must live in, but it didn't really take off until I separately showed the idea to some friends of mine - =BlondeShadow, ~oOBijouOo, and *Tell-Me-Lies and then we brainstormed all sorts of crazy awesome ideas.

The Universe: There's so much to tell, but here's the condensed version. The world's superheroes are all soda themed. Some are superpowered, others are tech-based. There's the Pepsi family of products (Pepsi, Sierra Mist, etc.), and the Coke family of products (Coke, Sprite, etc.), and everything else in between. Think of Pepsi as the Superman to Coke's Batman. In this world all the spin-off beverages (eg. Diet Coke, Cherry Coke, Vanilla Coke, Coke Zero, etc., etc.) are the sidekicks with varying degrees of loyalty. Sometimes you have sodas who work more in squadrons like the Fanta girls, other times you have heroes who don't get along at all like the root beer brothers Mug, A&W, and Barq's.

The villains of this world are the alcohols (Tequila, Vodka, Margarita, etc.) and the energy drinks (Rockstar, Red Bull, Monster, etc.). Juices are the badass normals, like detectives, assassins, spies, police, etc. For example there's the Kool-Aid Brigade, an agency of assassins with millions of disposable flavors. But then there's also sweet Commissioner Orange Juice (she has no brand, she's homemade) and her tragic and star-crossed romance with the villain Vodka. Then of course you have the Gatorades and the Powerades, a special genetically-engineered class of super soldiers who are almost unstoppable.

Romances, rivalries, it's all there and it's all VERY huge in scope because we couldn't stop ourselves. BlondeShadow, Bijou and I have been talking about making one big FAQ journal where we link all our drawings, art, and stories for this universe too, buuuuuuut you know since we're so busy it may or may not happen. You know how I'm always arranging these big projects and then never finishing them. x)

As for Sprite herself there's not much to tell. She's besties with Coke but there's nothing between them. In fact she basically gets along with everyone. She's just an all around friendly, bubbly, perky, and possibly annoying gal. [Yet Another Edit: I will also add that Sierra Mist, who is in love with Coke for complex reasons (more about her later), is terribly jealous of Sprite and how much she and Coke are stupendous BFFles. Sprite is oblivious to that sort of thing. she's oblivious to any love or hate directed at her, but she loves to interfere with other people's relationships as a happy, perky messenger. She's nosy, irresponsible, but she's loyal to the core and she gets stuff DONE. She's cool not being mixed up in drama, in fact, she prefers it that way. Give her somebody to play with and she'll probably be happy.]

Self-Critique Time: Lots of anatomy mistakes but this is so long already that I'm not even gonna list 'em. [Edit: Nnng, but I have to say that the reason why the legs are messed up is because I had the hips tilting down toward her left but then I lifted her left leg and...pffft, wut a dummy. Now one's too short.] This picture is a WRECK up close so I'm hoping you won't zoom in. Y-yeah, please don't. T_T I need more digital inking practice auuuuuuugh. Edit: Forgot to say, when I drew her I didn't have any refs 'cause I was in class, so yeah, I know that insignia on her chest doesn't make sense. xD
